Delhi Assembly budget session to commence today with Kheer Ceremony

The budget session of the Delhi Assembly is set to commence on Monday with a Kheer Ceremony to take place in the Vidhan Sabha.
The session has been scheduled between March 23 and 25 as per the Delhi Cabinet’s decision taken earlier. The Delhi’s Economic Survey report is likely to be tabled in the House on Monday before the budget to be presented on March 24, Tuesday.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will be attending the Kheer Ceremony along with the members, a tradition introduced by the BJP government during the previous session.
Earlier, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta had said that the legislature is going to roll out ‘Vidhan Sathi’, a dedicated AI-based legislative research and assistance tool, during the budget session.

On Friday, the CM met the Delhi Assembly Speaker in the presence of Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, cabinet minister Parvesh Verma, and MLA Abhay Verma, ahead of the upcoming budget session. She shared that a meaningful dialogue had taken place on the occasion with regard to the session, while various legislative matters over the national capital’s development were also discussed during the meeting.
The government has been holding consultations for several days with representatives from different walks of life and sectors to ensure that the budget 2026 is more people-centric and practical.
The Chief Minister had earlier hosted a special ‘Samvad’ (dialogues) at the secretariat, that brought together working women, teachers, sportspersons, students, traders and representatives coming from different sections of the society who shared their experiences, expectations and suggestions with the CM.
She had said the upcoming budget would likely have several women-centric initiatives.
